The episode, titled “The Lioness in the Cage,” follows the immediate aftermath of Jagriti being framed for inciting a riot at the mining site.

The Midnight Arrest

The episode begins with the police arriving at the Chitta basti. Aatish has provided the authorities with doctored photos showing Jagriti holding a kerosene lamp near the “industrial project” site, claiming she tried to commit arson. Despite the villagers’ protests, the police arrest Jagriti. Suraj stands frozen; his heart wants to fight for her, but the threat of his past being exposed by Aatish keeps him silent, leading to a look of utter betrayal from Jagriti as she is led away in handcuffs.

The Hidden Ally’s Identity

While in the lock-up, Jagriti is visited by a young constable who was the “masked figure” from the previous night. He reveals himself as Vikram, a new recruit who grew up in a neighboring village and has seen Aatish’s atrocities first-hand. He tells Jagriti that he has hidden the photos she took of the toxic waste disposal. However, he warns her that the local Inspector is on Aatish’s payroll and will try to destroy the evidence before the court hearing.

Sapna’s Change of Heart

Back in the village, Sapna sees the devastation of the community. Women are crying, and the men are beginning to realize they’ve signed away their lives to the mining mafia. Seeing Suraj’s misery and Jagriti’s bravery, Sapna’s “survival first” mindset cracks. She confronts Aatish privately, telling him she has copies of the old documents he used to blackmail Suraj. She enters a dangerous game of “double blackmail” to buy Jagriti some time.

The Jailhouse Vow

The climax of the episode takes place inside the prison cell. Aatish visits Jagriti, gloating about his victory. He offers her a deal: if she signs a public apology and leaves the district forever, he will drop the charges. Jagriti looks him in the eye and, instead of fear, shows a cold, sharp smile. She tells him that by putting her in jail, he has made her a martyr in the eyes of the villagers. “You didn’t lock me in,” she says, “you locked the truth out. And the truth always breaks the door.”
